March Madness Update! Don’t miss this year’s exciting countdown to the 2015 Druid Hills Tour of Homes & Gardens and Artist Market, May 1-3, 2015. This year’s line-up features homes envisioned by the renowned architects Ivey & Crook who worked to further fulfill Frederick Law Olmstead’s design plans for Druid Hills.

One of the homes one on this year’s tour is a part of the Adair Estate, an enclave of condominiums featuring traditional layouts with exquisite detail. The home located at 1312 Ponce de Leon, is owned by Niki Paris and Myron Kramer encompasses three levels and 3,600 square feet. Contemporary furnishings blend with the traditional architectural design featuring extensive use of moldings and heart pine floors. Tucked away off the top floor, a balcony overlooks neighborhood gardens and rooftops.

Another featured home is 948 Lullwater Road NE, owned by Kathie And Charles Palmer. Built in 1929 by Coca-Cola founder Asa Candler as a wedding gift for his son John, this expansive home was Ivey & Crook’s job number 215. Notable features include the impressively sized foyer with circular stair, paneled living room, and original library. The current homeowners undertook renovations and additions in 2011. Designed by noted Classicist architect Norman Askins, the extensive additions comprise a new kitchen, family room, mud room, back stair, and attic bedroom.

In addition to the Ivey & Crook homes, the tour will feature a series of free events open to the public at Emory Village including an Artist Market, nightly entertainment, Institute of Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA) Lecture on the architectural firm of Ivey & Crook, a guided Walking Tour of Ivey & Crook buildings on the Emory University campus.

This year, the tour is happy to support the Patch Dash 5K Fun Run/Walk and Tot Trot (for kids five and younger). The 5K run/walk begins and ends in Emory Village. Race proceeds to benefit Press On To Cure Childhood Cancer: http://www.pressonfund.org, whose unique mission is to identify feasible therapies for childhood cancers and to invest money to support science and infrastructure.
